A Week Away Benefit Concert
A concert event to benefit the work of A Week Away, the nonprofit founded by Caleb Walker, featuring an incredible lineup of local bands.
The mission of A Week Away is to coordinate and finance respites for individuals and their loved ones who are dealing with a life-threatening illness — enabling them to find the peace and energy needed to continue fighting their disease.
We can’t cure someone’s illness, but we can give them the hope to keep fighting. We take care of everything from travel expenses to medical care to lost wages.
The burden of battling a life-altering diagnosis does not fall solely on the shoulders of the patient, but on the caregivers and loved ones as well. Our goal: provide a stress-free experience to the whole team.
Corty Byron Band
Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Corty Byron has been active as a musician for over a decade. He released two solo projects (2011‘s Histrionic EP & 2010‘s Endless North), opened for/performed with artists like Gregg Allman, The Doobie Brothers, Dave Mason, Bruce Hornsby, The Gin Blossoms, Blackberry Smoke, Hot Tuna, Jimmy Vivino…. and has become a fixture of his hometown Central Pennsylvania music scene, as well as being a seasoned road hound, gigging his way from Manhattan to Memphis, Austin to Vegas and all points in between. In late 2011 Corty relocated to Venice, CA, and spent the following year performing up and down the coast and across the state, including venues such as The Viper Room, House Of Blues and Saint Rocke. His style has shifted from swampy vintage rock and soulful acoustic based Americana to song driven psychedelic indie pop/rock.
Limbo Jimbo is recently created band of individuals who love to get together, have a good time and share their music with live audiences. Their influences are steeped in the Blues, Soul and Funk traditions. While a new band on the scene, they respect and seek to continue to bring the sound of classic grooves back into the limelight, while maintaining a fresh new perspective. The band consists of Tuck Ryan (Vocals, Piano, Guitar), one of the former lead men from Second Hand Suits, Matt “Hoss Sauce” Hostetter(Guitar, Vocals), Nick Adams (Drums), and Tim White (Bass) . If you enjoy dancing to smooth, soulful music with powerhouse vocals, then lace up your dancin’ shoes and come hear Limbo Jimbo.
Leo DiSanto, a troubadour from rural Pennsylvania, has spent the past few years traveling these united states- from Maine to Florida, from Fargo to Dallas- as founding front man of the incendiary, eclectic, award-winning string band Vinegar Creek Constituency (www.vinegarcreek.com). In early summer 2011, Leo released his first solo album- The Moon, A Silver Dime, which resounds with a diversity of influences from Sun Records-era Elvis to Leonard Cohen to Bob Dylan, from country junkyard rock to acoustic folk to warped, “Felliniesque” (Fly Magazine) circus music. In winter 2012 DiSanto embarked on a 20-date solo tour, performing throughout the Appalachian South, Gulf Coast, and Texas. With the 2013 release of VCC’s 3rd all-original album, Don’t Go Back In Time, Leo has continued to tour in an ever-expanding range as half of the dynamic Vinegar Creek Constituency Duo, including appearances at radio stations, music festivals, nightclubs, theaters, street corners, barn jams, and venues of all sorts. Described by a songwriter friend as “Lord Byron meets Merle Haggard,” Leo’s galvanizing live performances have inspired comparisons to legendary troubadours such as Townes Van Zandt, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, and Willie Nelson.
